Under the supervision of the Dean of Health Occupations, you will teach credit Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) and Human Services courses. The courses you teach will be primarily online. You will focus on continuous improvement of your courses so that they are relevant and engaging, enhancing the ever-important student experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction
•Develop, maintain, and deliver competency-based instruction in accordance with the mission, vision, and philosophy of Nicolet College in the Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC)/Human Services program.
•Deliver instruction as assigned. (Online and virtually).
•Post and maintain regular office hours for student consultation.

Instruction-Related Support
•Inform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
•Continuously inform students on the progress of their learning in accordance with the learning centered philosophy of Nicolet College.
•Maintain accurate attendance, student success, and scholastic records of students.

Professional Development and Service to the College
•Maintain professional affiliations and certifications.
•Meet and maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Understanding of higher education operations including admissions, student recruitment, and student success services.
•Ability to work collaboratively in teams to plan and coordinate activities and implement comprehensive programs.
•Understanding of diversity issues.
•Ability to communicate effectively through attentive listening and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Effective use of student management software system and computer applications.
•Knowledge of distance instruction techniques.
•Promote an educational philosophy which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery and evaluation of learning.
•Promote and model professionalism as an educator.

Physical Demands:

•The employee must demonstrate strong attention to detail and must be able to problem solve and perform complex tasks without error.
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to both a normal office environment including usual office equipment, and travel including exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather conditions, and environmental hazards.
•The employee will be frequently required to talk, hear, and type/write.
•The employee will be frequently required to sit, touch/handle/grasp (using hands and fingers) and reach with hands and arms.
•The employee must occasionally bend or squat and lift and/or push up to 25 pounds of general office items and supplies.
•Specific hearing abilities required by this job include hearing normal speaking-level sounds.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, far, and field of vision.
•This position requires regular and punctual employee presence.

Required Qualifications:
•Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in SUDC / Human Services or in a health-related field. SUDC related occupational experience may substitute for a portion of education.
•Current licensure in SUDC or a related field.
•Minimum of four (4) years of relevant counseling experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Successful experience in post-secondary setting or working with individuals to enter a postsecondary setting.
•Knowledge of instruction and curriculum design systems.
•Knowledge of WIDS.
•Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary setting.
•Subject area related industry certifications.

Other

Compensation:
Adjunct instructors are extended an appointment letter for courses instructed. Benefits are not included with these part-time positions.
