Salary: $20.00 per hour

We are currently seeking a part-time Water Exercise Instructor in our Center for Corporate & Community Education. TheWater Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading safe and effective aquaticexercise classes for participants of all ages and fitness levels. This positionrequires a strong understanding of water-based fitness techniques, effectivecommunication skills, and the ability to create a motivating and inclusiveenvironment. The Water Exercise Instructor will promote the benefits of aquaticexercise while ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. Thisposition requires a weekday commitment.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Leads water exercise classes in accordance with the facility's schedule. Developsand implements engaging and effective workout routines suitable forparticipants' varying abilities. Modifies exercises as needed to accommodateparticipants with different fitness levels or limitations;
- Demonstrates proper form and technique for exercises, providing clear instructions to participant;
- Incorporates equipment such as water weights, noodles, and kickboards into classes to enhance workouts;
- Ensures the safety of all participants by following proper aquatic safety guidelines. Instructs participants on proper pool and equipment usage to prevent accidents;
- Fosters a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participant engagement and motivation;
- Provides feedback and encouragement to participants to help them achieve their fitness goals;
- Builds rapport with participants and creates a sense of community within the class. Addresses participant questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy;
- Completes required paperwork in a timely manner. Keeps accurate records of class attendance and participant progress;
- Upholds cleanliness and orderliness in the swimming pool and associated facilities, including equipment storage space;
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required;
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Two years’ previous experience leading water exercise classes
- Associate degree (or a minimum of 60 completed college credits)
- Ability to motivate and inspire participants of diverse backgrounds and fitness levels
- Sound knowledge of proper water exercise /aerobic techniques and water safety rules
- Physical ability to demonstrate exercises and perform in a water environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable transportation, at time of hire and throughout employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Water Exercise Instructor from a recognized organization (e.g., AEA, AFAA, ACE)
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or Basic Swim Instructor (BSI), CPR, and First Aid certifications, BLS CPR and First Aid certifications
