Minimum Education:
High School or equivalency Diploma required.
Minimum Experience/Training:
Five or more years of related experience. Certified from credited HVAC Technical School.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
Mechanical Journeyman certificate, EPA Freon Certificate
Valid Florida Driver’s License required or, as a condition of continued employment, a Valid Florida Driver’s License within 30 days after beginning employed by the College.
Essential Functions:
- Daily - 40%: Installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilating, air conditioning equipment and systems.
- Daily - 20%: Operates a variety of equipment as needed to perform work.
- Daily - 5%: Installs, maintains and repairs computerized Direct Digital, pneumatic devices related to HVAC control.
- Daily - 5%: Operates various measuring and testing instruments.
- Other - 5%: Maintains electronic/pneumatic testing equipment.
- Bi-Weekly - 10%: Calls and works with vendors to arrange service for warranted parts, select appropriate replacement parts and troubleshoot problems.
- Quarterly - 5%: Reads blueprints, piping and wiring diagrams.
- Other - 5%: Performs brazing, soldering, pipefitting and welding.
- Other - 5%: Responsible for inventory of supplies and control storage of materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of A/C Systems.
- Knowledge of Controls.
- Knowledge of pneumatic electric and electronic controls.
- Knowledge of A/C motors and pumps.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Knowledge and ability to comprehend blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to prepare correspondence and reports relating to day to day activities.
- Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to understand building codes and safety standards and adhere to those guidelines.
- Ability to train and lead the work of other non-skilled, semi-skilled and skilled staff within one or more trade
- Ability to recognize needs of unit and own responsibility
