SUMMARYIn collaboration with nursing faculty and under the direction of the Dean and Nursing Program Administrator, the nursing lab and simulation coordinator promotes and coordinates lab and simulation activities for the MVCC Nursing Program. The nursing lab and simulation coordinator is responsible for working with nursing faculty to integrate simulation into the learning strategies and assessment processes of the curriculum to support student achievement of course and program learning outcomes. Additional responsibility includes supervision of the nursing laboratory personnel and nursing lab inventory at the Palos Hills and Blue Island campuses. The nursing lab and simulation coordinator is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. The coordinator is required to be present on-campus as needed (i.e., in-service, professional development, departmental meetings).

1. Directs and maintains inventory of supplies to support all instruction in all nursing labs.2. Provides input to the Nursing Program Administrator for the continued development of the nursing budget, including recommendations for equipment purchases to maintain standards essential for effective instruction.3. Provides supervision and training for all adjunct lab staff including student tutors for the nursing laboratory.4. Participates in professional development to effectively advance simulation as an instructional method, by attending simulation user group meetings or organizational groups at the local, state, and national levels.5. Collaborates with nursing faculty to coordinate and develop simulation scenarios that support student achievement of nursing program and course learning outcomes.6. Assists faculty in the instruction of students to meet course objectives through utilization of the Human Patient Simulation and skills validations.7. Establishes practices and procedures for simulation and laboratory activities that provide for effective learning experiences, safe practice and are in accordance with program policies, course objectives and program outcomes.8. Develops, evaluates and refines scenarios utilized for simulation experiences to include role playing, props, and dialogue that provide a realistic learning environment.9. Evaluates the effectiveness of simulation/laboratory processes and makes recommendations for improvement.10. Other duties as assigned

Training and supervision of nursing lab specialists.


Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
A minimum of two years clinical and/or teaching experience preferred.
A minimum of one year experience in simulation or a nursing lab required.CHSE certification preferred.


Current, unencumbered Illinois RN License
Master’s degree in nursing requiredAbility to be on one’s feet 8-10 hoursAbility to lift, stretch and bend at the waist
Current, AHA BLS CPR for the Healthcare Provider

Position Status:

Full Time


8am-5pm Monday-Friday,

Some Saturdays and some evening hours may be required.
