(Contingent upon available funding): 0.00 - 0.00, Commensurate with education and experience Work Schedule: TBD Faculty Appt Period: 12 months Job Summary: We invite applicants for a post-doctoral fellow position at the Youssef-Elshahed laboratory at Oklahoma State University. The position is initially for one year, with the possibility of yearly extensions based on availability of funds and annual performance evaluations. The successful candidate will conduct research at the interface of molecular microbial ecology and evolution. They will employ multiple sequencing-based approaches for recovering genomes and associated mobile elements from selected surficial, anaerobic habitats. Concurrently, the candidate will apply ancestral stage reconstruction and gene-tree reconciliation approaches to understand the evolutionary trajectory of specific lineages, genes, and processes. They will also closely interact with a research team aiming to develop novel sequence-based approaches for isolating representatives of novel-yet-uncultured microbial and viral lineages from anaerobic habitats. Applicants with knowledge and expertise in the areas of environmental genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular evolution are especially encouraged to apply.
