College Laboratory Technician - Music, Multimedia, Theatre & Dance **GENERAL DUTIES** Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework. - Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories - Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials - Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards - Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities - Manages equipment and materials inventories. Job Title Name: College Laboratory Technician **CONTRACT TITLE** College Laboratory Technician **FLSA** Non-exempt **CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION** Reporting to the department Chair, the College Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the following: Supervises multimedia lab and provides access and training for students. Provides technical assistance to students and faculty in multimedia software and video/audio production equipment. Works with faculty, staff and students on the video and sound related needs for theater and dance productions including setup of video projection equipment and maintenance. Responsible for coordinating and producing live-stream of productions with work-study students. Responsible for video documentation and archiving of productions with work-study students. Oversees video and audio equipment, inventory, technology requests and purchases. Oversees equipment checkout and training of work-study students. Provides technical support for multimedia performance classes including equipment setup and maintenance. Helps research and recommend multimedia equipment to support our curriculum and to optimize our classrooms, rehearsal and theater spaces. Attend theatre and dance production meetings and serve as liaison between guest designers. Must be available during weekend/evenings during tech week and show runs. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. **OTHER QUALIFICATIONS** Candidates should have proficiency in the following software platforms including: Proficient Adobe Premiere and Qlab, Audacity Preferred Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition, Ableton Live, Isadora Proficient with multi-projector setup and live stream Proficient with multi camera editing in Premiere Proficient with Video camcorder and Dslr camera equipment **Preferred Qualifications:** Bachelor’s degree in film production, audio production, media, art, computer graphics, theatre, dance, multimedia, or related field. Two years professional experience in technical theatre for live performance **COMPENSATION** $69,517-$70,927 **BENEFITS** CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. For more than two decades, Lehman has deepened its involvement with the surrounding community. Together with the City and the Humanities Program, the Department of Music, and the Theatre program, they present dozens of concerts, plays, dance performances, and exhibitions that are free or nominally priced.

Lehman College also provides a variety of community services. The Institute for Literacy Studies sponsors classes to teach adults fundamentals of reading and writing, while the Speech and Hearing Center offers comprehensive evaluations of hearing and speech-language disorders.

Lehman has joined with the Bronx Superintendent of Schools’ Office and the educational reform organization New Visions for Public Schools to develop seven new small high schools in the Bronx. The schools—housed within larger, traditional high schools—are formed around the themes of the visual arts, teaching, music, college readiness, health sciences, nursing and allied health, and community research and learning.

In addition, in Fall 2003, the High School of American Studies at Lehman College opened on the Lehman campus. One of New York City’s new specialized high schools and the only one to focus on American history, the school represents a collaboration among Lehman College, the New York City Department of Education, and the Gilder-Lehrman Foundation.
