Rank: Guest Faculty
Tenure Information: Non-Tenure Track

Job Description
Sarah Lawrence College Department of Biology seeks a full-time guest faculty member for the 2024-25 academic year. The position consists of a full-time teaching load of two courses each semester, including an introductory-level Genetics course with a weekly lab component during the Fall '24 semester. The other three courses will be introductory or intermediate-level courses in a subfield of cellular/molecular biology of the applicant's choosing in agreement with departmental needs. Potential courses include but are not limited to: cell biology, developmental biology, human disease, immunology, neurobiology, animal physiology, and stem cell biology.

All courses will be capped at 15 students and comprised of a seminar class (typically meeting 2x/week) and biweekly meetings with individual students to work on a semester-long independent project. A weekly laboratory component is associated with the Genetics course in the Fall. The instructor may choose to include a laboratory component with one Spring semester course, depending on the nature of the course. We seek an instructor dedicated to developing the research, writing, and analytical skills of their students in addition to imparting the material of their discipline. As they prepare their applications, candidates are encouraged to consult the SLC course catalogue to view the style and content of course descriptions, especially courses taught in science and mathematics.

Application materials must include: cover letter; CV; statement of teaching philosophy including how consideration of diversity, equity, and inclusion informs your teaching; a catalog-style description of your proposed courses including any textbooks you would use; and three letters of reference.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
