Job Title:Compliance and Athletic Aid Specialist

Job Description
The Student Financial Aid (SFA) Compliance and Athletic Aid Specialist within the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) assists the Compliance and Athletic Aid team in SFA with athletic aid administration, policy research, analytical, communication and organizational support. This position reports to the Senior Associate Director of Compliance and Athletic Aid.


Compliance duties include assisting with assessing and measuring key compliance standards
within SFA, review and reform of financial aid policies, procedures and overall activities relative to compliance with state, federal and institutional regulations. Researches and responds to internal and external compliance inquiries, assists with annual audits, office records and retention, maintenance of the SFA policy and procedure manuals. Contributes to the development and facilitation of compliance related training for staff and external partners. Maintains current knowledge of state, federal and university regulations. Participates in officewide projects and initiatives. Serves as back-up to all areas of the office, completes special projects and other duties as assigned.


Athletic aid duties include assisting the Athletic Aid Coordinator with all aspects of the financial
aid process for student-athletes including customer service, counseling, aid processing, reporting and maintenance of data in the Jump Forward software system and the Athletic Aid policy and procedure manual. Maintains current knowledge of NCAA and Big 10 Conference rules and regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities

50% Compliance duties include assisting with assessing and measuring key compliance
standards within SFA, review and reform of financial aid policies, procedures and overall
activities relative to compliance with state, federal and institutional regulations. Researches and
responds to internal and external compliance inquiries, assists with annual audits, office records
and retention, maintenance of the SFA policy and procedure manuals. Contributes to the development and facilitation of compliance related training for staff and external partners. Maintains current knowledge of state, federal and university regulations.

40% Athletic aid duties include assisting the Athletic Aid Coordinator with all aspects of the
financial aid process for student-athletes including customer service, counseling, aid processing,
reporting, auditing and maintenance of data in the JumpForward athletic software system.
Maintains current knowledge of NCAA and Big 10 Conference rules and regulations.

10% Participates in office-wide projects and initiatives. Serves as back-up to all areas of the
office, completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required. A minimum of 1-3 years experience in the financial aid field with demonstrated knowledge of student financial aid regulations and aid delivery. Experience processing Title IV aid including verification, awarding, disbursement, Return to Title IV, policy and procedure development. Experience in Microsoft Office including excel. This position requires successful completion of a background and credit check.

Desired Experience:

Experience in PeopleSoft is preferred and working with federal student aid partner websites such as NSLDS, COD.

Proposed hiring range: $20.53 - $27.36/hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, units' available budget, and the candidates' qualifications.
