Job Summary:

The Professional Education Coordinator coordinates activities involved in provision of conference and workshop services. The Coordinator also assists in the selection or design of workshops to be presented and support instructional design needs of trainers. The Professional Education Coordinator coordinates registration process, including fee collection and payment of honorarium and conference expenses, in addition to securing appropriate venues and arranges for auxiliary services, including lodging, meals, and transportation for trainers.


  • Act as a primary contact for participants enrolling in EMU Professional Education programs.
  • Work closely with PE Specialist/Developer and venue staff to communicate about contracted services and program details.
  • Assist in facilitating contracted program components within the parameters of the established budget.
  • Work closely with faculty/trainers leading professional education programs on all aspects of the program including technical support.
  • Work in partnership with the Specialist/Developer to monitor participant numbers and provide feedback on where additional recruitment support and institutional visits may be useful to reach and exceed targeted enrollment numbers per term.
  • Collaborate with the EMU marketing department to develop and develop program-specific marketing materials, customized websites, lead generating communication plans and other collateral.
  • Facilitate participant registration process.
  • Provide customer service support to participants, answering any pre-event questions they might have to prepare them for their professional education experience.
  • Establish and maintain pre-program communication plan and timeline for all participants and faculty/trainer.
  • Hold scheduled meetings with faculty/trainers to discuss and receive updates on program content and expectations.
  • Work closely with Business department to facilitate billing and payment for organizations/participants.
  • Provide organizations/participants with necessary information related to program costs.
  • Manage logistics related to venue scheduling and set-up.
  • Generate Faculty/Trainer contracts and arrange for payment.
  • Perform additional recruitment event-related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with contact management systems such as Salesforce.

  • Demonstrated ability of high-level analytical skills.
  • Ability to have a professional and neat appearance.
  • Ability to set goals, prioritize and organize job tasks and workload in order to meet deadlines, ability to complete work in a timely manner and communicate progress routinely with the Director of Graduate and Professional Recruitment.
  • Ability to use a PC and software such as, Windows, Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook), and Google.
  • Ability to operate commonly used office equipment such as a copy machine, fax, phone, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide variety of constituents.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Experience in higher education environment is preferred. Event planning experience preferred.   


Physical Requirements: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel.   The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
