Position Summary:

Coordinate essential academic support services, overseeing testing (make-up, accommodated, and placement) and tutoring services (hiring, training, scheduling). Aid in fulfilling academic accommodation requests and support common course registration and withdrawal processes. Collaborate with multiple Departments within Academic Success.

Description of Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively and inclusively with persons of diverse backgrounds and with multiple constituencies of the college and parents.
  2. Handle inquiries via multiple email accounts and department phone calls regarding Academic Support and Student Disability Services promptly and professionally. Provide information on available academic support resources and accommodations.
  3. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and teamwork.
  4. Refer students to the Student Disability Services Coordinator, academic advising, and other campus offices as needed. Identify students at risk of dropping out or requiring additional academic support.
  5. Coordinate daily operations of the testing center and accommodation processes in collaboration with the Student Disability Services Coordinator.
  6. Manage scheduling of academic tutoring and group study services. Handle hiring, training, and payroll processes for student tutors.
  7. Assist students with registration and withdrawal procedures. Support the Student Success Team in sending timely reminders to complete registration processes.
  8. Maintain and update web pages related to Student Support and Student Disability Services under the guidance of the Student Disability Services Coordinator.
  9. Collect and compile data on academic support and student disability services.
  10. Order and manage office supplies, performing general administrative tasks as needed.
  11. Assist in obtaining and developing assistive technology and accessible course materials when possible.
  12. Handle logistical activities such as delivering and picking up materials from various locations, including the printshop and mailroom.
  13. Provide administrative support for student-related matters, including academic standing (probation, dismissal, dean’s list, etc.).
  14. Support the Student Success Team, including the Assistant Provost for Student Success and Dean of Academic Services, with administrative tasks.
  15. Provide building facilities support for the Learning Commons.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Foster a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work and living environment. Actively participate in educational opportunities to enhance awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently is required.
  4. Proficient computer skills are essential, with a preference for knowledge of assistive technology applications.
  5. Familiarity with academic support and student disability services functions is preferred.

Seeking an exceptionally reliable individual with keen attention to detail and a dedication to maintaining confidentiality. The specialist will ensure the timely opening of the testing center and uphold the integrity of testing procedures. Effective communication skills are crucial for interactions with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the College community. The role involves coordinating campus tutoring services, requiring strong multitasking and prioritization abilities. Superior organizational skills and resourcefulness are essential.


An associate’s degree or equivalent work experience is required


A minimum of two (2) years in a related support role required.
