Faculty – Pharmacology (Full-Time)

This position is part of the newly established Biomedical Sciences department at MCOM.



We are looking for someone to help establish the Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine, a branch campus of Rocky Vista University.

$83,000 to $119,000+ per year DOE and Faculty Rank. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to rank, skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials. Faculty Rank will be determined by the RVU Rank and Promotion committee and final salary offer will depend on Faculty Rank Determination.

Primary Purpose

Participate in teaching pharmacology at the RVU campus in Billings, Montana. Provide service to the university and engage in innovative scholarship and research to advance medical and scientific knowledge.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide education, mentorship, and guidance to all students of the University.
  • Participate in delivery of all aspects of pharmacology curriculum.
  • Participate in all methods of curriculum delivery including, but not limited to, video presentations, live in-person and virtual teaching, labs, small groups, and simulation activities.
  • Maintain discipline expertise through continuing professional education.
  • Provide service to the University and the greater community by serving on committees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach events and working with professional organizations or groups.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, enthusiasm, and the willingness to assist the University in fulfilling its mission and vision.
  • Participate in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and modification.
  • Engage in scholarly activity including mentorship of student efforts in research.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students, provide feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that the students of the COM meet the standards established by the faculty and college and obtain the knowledge, skills and competency established.
  • Participate in the assessment or evaluation of and provide feedback to other members of the faculty.
  • Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of professional actions and performance. Know and model the RVU Core Values in all aspects of work on and off campus.
  • Demonstrate and model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, support staff, and students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of graduate and medical education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the area of studied expertise as well ability to deliver physiology content related to all body systems appropriate for the level of learner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of content delivery via varied curriculum templates.
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor and motivate students and peers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing equality, diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution (PharmD, PhD, DO, MD) and current Board Certification if applicable.
  • Experience in scholarly activity, student mentoring, and academic service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of academic experience as a faculty member at a college of health sciences or three (3) years of academic experience as a full-time faculty member in an institution of higher education at the graduate level.
  • Demonstrated scholarly activity (i.e., research, authorship, publications, professional presentations).
  • Familiarity with osteopathic medicine.
