Transforming Gifts into Graduates:

Building a path to better tomorrows, together

Are you ready to be the driving force between the direct impact that giving has on student experience and success in community colleges? At Valencia College, we believe that anyone can learn anything under the right conditions, and that philanthropy can play a transformative role in creating the conditions necessary for our students to learn, reach their goals, and achieve success. We are on a mission to redefine philanthropy for community colleges and are seeking an innovative Chief Philanthropy Officer and Executive Director of the Valencia Foundation to lead the charge!

In this role, you will provide vision, leadership, and guidance across all facets of the Valencia College Foundation, including fundraising, donor stewardship, alumni relations, and strategic planning—all aimed at supporting educational excellence at Valencia College.

This position functions as an advisor to the President of the College and the Foundation Board of Directors.

We are seeking an innovative individual who is driven to contribute to transformative change with a clear purpose—to significantly influence the lives of students and our community, rather than change for the sake of change. If you are passionate about making an impact on the lives of our students and community, we invite you to explore this exciting opportunity with us.

Application Process:

We invite you to submit a complete online application and the following materials:

  • A letter of interest: Summarize your approach to fundraising strategies, cultivating and building donor relationships, and how you have successfully managed comprehensive campaigns to meet strategic objectives.
  • A resume or curriculum vitae.
  • The names and contact information for three (3) professional references. Professional references will only be contacted for finalist candidates.
  • Applicants must complete the entire online application and include work history, even if attaching a resume. Any incomplete applications will not be considered.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.  Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising strategies to include such things as cultivating donor relationships, soliciting gifts, creating strategic communication and community engagement strategies, managing comprehensive campaigns, and managing/leading a team.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE).  Experience in higher education and/or in non-profit management.  Prior supervision and management experience.  Experience in leading or working with a volunteer board of community leaders, planning, and setting strategic direction for fundraising initiatives and complying with governmental and IRS regulations.

Valencia’s Total Rewards Commitment:

Valencia College is committed to providing employees with a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package. Your total rewards include significantly more than just your base pay. Our total rewards program offers a wide-ranging combination of pay, benefits, professional development, work/life balance in a meaningful, collaborative work environment and so much more…

Salary: $170,000 - $200,000 Per Year

Organization

The winner of the inaugural Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, Valencia College is one of the largest community colleges in Florida, teaching more than 76,000 students annually.

But it's our quality of education, not size, that truly makes us great. Our Honors program is viewed by the National Collegiate and Southern Regional Honors Council as one of the exemplary programs in the nation. The Orlando Sentinel dubbed our fine-arts faculty one of the best in the region, and director Steven Spielberg called our film program one of the best anywhere. But the opinions that matter most are those of our students, and 92% say we met or exceeded their expectations on overall quality of education.

We strive to ensure that equal access to higher education belongs to everyone, because the future does, too.

We stand in the gap between what is and what can be. We pave a path to true potential. Whether it’s helping students land a dream job or continue on to the university of their Dreams, we do everything in our power to make that possible for each and every one of our students.

Recognized as one of “The Great Colleges to Work For” by the Chronicle of Higher Education, we understand the importance of fostering a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork, creativity and the achievement of a true work/life balance.

At Valencia College, it’s more than just a job. We’re committed to helping our students reach their full potential by providing them with the right opportunities, the right tools and the right support. And that begins with recruiting the right talent.

We seek leaders. Inspirers. Motivators. Educational enthusiasts, passionate optimists and experienced realists. Individuals who not only believe in our students, but will help our students believe in themselves.

Valencia College has convenient locations throughout Central Florida and easily accessible by local freeways, expressways, and surface streets. But the convenient commute is just part of the appeal. With beautiful year-round weather, endless entertainment and dining options, and world-famous attractions, there's no shortage of incredible ways to spend your spare time.
