Job Details

Adjunct instructor needed to teach Physics 121 and 122: General Physics. These courses are a two-semester sequence of physics courses targeted towards science majors. The fall semester course (121) covers the classical physics including mechanics, wave motion, heat, and thermodynamics. The spring semester course (122) includes an introduction to magnetism, electromagnetic waves, light and optics, and modern physics. These are non-calculus based physics courses that are introductory in nature and targeted towards students majoring in chemistry or biology. Another significant population of students are those in pre-professional training for programs in physical therapy, medicine, and other health related fiends. Each course will likely have between 15 and 20 students.

These are four credit, lab-based classes. The lecture sections of each class include two 75-minute meetings per week. The lab section is schedule for two hours and forty minutes. Class meetings are Monday and Thursday late afternoon with a Thursday evening lab section. The lab is equipped with common demonstration materials and equipment.

Requirements:

            Degree required: MS in Physics or Engineering

            Degree preferred: PhD in Physics
