The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is seeking an Inclusive Excellence Education and Development Educator to provide education and development to the Johns Hopkins University community.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director for Inclusive Excellence Education and Development, this position will be responsible for delivering diversity education and professional development experiences for university faculty, staff, and students. The educator will contribute to institution-wide efforts to develop awareness, knowledge, and skills that contribute to enduring structural change. As Johns Hopkins continues to work on the Second Roadmap on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, this position will contribute to many of the goals within the roadmap, including strengthening the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI).
The successful individual for this position will have the skills to lead diversity education and professional development. Along with partners in ODI, this role will contribute to a more inclusive, equitable, and welcoming Johns Hopkins University.
Specific Duties & Responsibilitie
- Independently deliver diversity, equity, and inclusion educational experiences for university faculty, staff, and students.
- Collaborate with unit staff to develop and design high-quality, research-based diversity workshops.
- Evaluate and assess educational experiences to ensure alignment with institutional goals, learning objectives, and organizational needs.
- Provide subject-matter expertise on certain diversity-related topics.
- Research emerging practices and strategies for diversity education.
- Manage communications and scheduling for diversity education sessions.
- Collaborate and build relationships with campus partners to assess and enhance educational opportunities.
- Consult with campus partners who are interested in developing their capacity for diversity and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Four years of related experience in diversity-related programs and/or initiatives.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
