Theatre History and Play Analysis

The Department of Theatre and Film at Jacksonville State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate level courses in Theatre and Film (specifically Play Analysis and Theatre History)along with research and advanced data analysis in addition to other classes in their specialty in-person and online as the department requires. University service along with doctoral level research is required for tenure.

The Department of Theatre and Film offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Theatre and Film. The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre gives undergraduate students the opportunity to act, design, write, direct and stage manage and students choose an academic concentration in Performance or Production. Our emphasis is on helping to create well-rounded theatre artists who experience a variety of the disciplines for creating theatre.

  • Candidates must possess an earned Doctorate or MFA in the field to be taught and the ability to teach theatre history and play analysis.

This position has an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024.
