Visiting or Assistant Professor of Sports Management

Position Description

 

DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY’s Brennan School of Business is seeking applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor (or Assistant Professor) position in Sports Management for the 2024-2025 academic year, beginning August 2024. This opening comes with a newly approved major in sports management to be part of the department of management, marketing, and international business. Selected candidate will have the opportunity to grow this program through our student body that has a large proportion of student athletes as well as through our network of alums and connections to the sports franchises based in Chicago and the US-Midwest. The standard teaching load for this position is 21 credit hours, which corresponds to seven courses during the academic year at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates with expertise and specializations in all business-related fields within sports management will be considered. A strong candidate has the opportunity to be hired for a tenure-track line.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a PhD in Sports Management or a related field from an AACSB accredited institution. ABD candidates will also be considered, if evidence is provided that a doctoral degree will be conferred before August 2024.
  • In addition, the candidate should demonstrate the ability or potential for teaching in the area of International Sports Management or related field.
  • The candidate should also have established a research and scholarly agenda, demonstrating the ability or potential to produce quality peer reviewed journal articles (e.g., ABDC list) and other intellectual contributions.
  • Required qualifications also include the ability to advise undergraduate students.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A background in university-level teaching of sports management courses is preferred.
  • The ability to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students is preferred.
  • A background in creating and implementing experiential learning projects in sports management is preferred, but candidates with all backgrounds will be considered.
  • Experience teaching students from diverse populations and demonstrated experience creating or leading undergraduate sports management programs is preferred.
