Applications are invited for the temporary role of Senior Clinical Scientist in the NVRL. Following interviews, a panel will be formed from which future opportunities may be offered. This is a temporary post.

The National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL) plays an important role in the Irish Health Services as the principal diagnostic and reference service for clinicians investigating virus infections. The NVRL currently offers a repertoire of over 170 tests for the diagnosis of at least 45 different pathogens, and performs in excess of 1 million tests annually. The laboratory provides a 24/7 clinical and technical on call service to deal with urgent testing requirements and to support the National Transplant Programme. The NVRL is accredited by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a National Laboratory for Poliovirus, Influenza, Measles and Rubella. The role of the WHO Program Co-ordinator is to oversee the testing and reporting requirements of the NVRL WHO programs.

Salary Scale Snr Clinical Scientist\2013 (2010): €71,878 - €99,547

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
