The Percipalle Laboratory in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, wishes to appoint a Post-Doctoral Associate. The Percipalle lab studies the mechanisms underlying the 3D spatial organization of the mammalian genome and gene expression regulation during cellular differentiation and metabolic reprograming (Venit et al 2023, Nature Communications). We are interested in hearing from creative scientists to study chromatin and epigenetic changes that accompany transcriptional reprogramming during differentiation with a special focus on neurogenesis. The lab has recently discovered nuclear actin plays an essential role in the functional architecture of the genome at compartment level (Mahmood et al 2021, Nature Communications; Mahmood et al 2023, Genome Biology) and this directly impacts gene expression regulation during differentiation (see Xie et al 2018, PLOS Genetics; Gjorgjieva, Xie et al 2020, Adv Science; Al Sayegh et al 2020, Mol Biol Cell; Mahmood et al 2021, Nature Communications; Mahmood et al 2023, Genome Biology). We are now interested in gaining further insights into actin-dependent chromatin and epigenetic changes that accompany transcriptional reprogramming during differentiation with a focus on neurogenesis.
The ideal candidate will be responsible to lead a project to completion, to communicate scientific ideas and mentor other lab members, including undergraduate students. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or related area. Proficiency in genomics including HiC-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, bioinformatics analysis (R, Python) and cell biology techniques is needed as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
