Job Description:


Dean College's Communications Program is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Web Design and Social Media on campus during the Spring semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.



We are seeking an adjunct instructor for COM 124 - Web Design and Social Media. COM 124 is a 3-credit class that meets on campus for 2.5 hours/week. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Business program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.



The course description is as follows: This course introduces the theory, technology, and uses of digital, new, and social media. In this hands-on course, students will learn the fundamentals of digital web design and social and mobile media by creating and maintaining their own websites and accompanying social media. In addition, students will learn how to engage the user through target marketing, ad words, and search engine optimization. A laptop computer is required.



There is one Course section available. It is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00am - 8:50am.



Requirements:


  • A Master's degree in Communications or Business, or related discipline area is required.
  • PhD in a related discipline, preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the college level both in person and online, required.
  • Experience teaching second-year undergraduates preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, required.
  • Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools, required.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media, required.
  • Expertise in learner-centered teaching required.
  • Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy required.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
