The Department of Physics at the University of Florida (UF) seeks a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biophysics Theory
with strength in computation and data science, to begin August 16, 2024. Applications are encouraged from highly qualified candidates in all areas of theoretical biological physics, including but not limited to active matter and soft condensed matter, molecular and cellular function and dynamics, signaling and information processing, systems biology, collective behavior, neural dynamics and behavior, cellular and organismal physiology and development, ecological and evolutionary dynamics, machine learning and biological data analysis, and related topics.
This position offers the opportunity to interact with the research efforts both within and outside the Department of Physics, including interdisciplinary interactions with the Department of Biology, Microbiology and Cell Science, Biomedical Engineering, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, Florida Museum of Natural History, and College of Medicine. The University has heavily invested in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science initiatives and centers, providing high-performance computational resources including the HiPerGator 3.0 and HiPerGator AI, the largest supercomputer and AI infrastructure in higher education.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field
Have strong postdoctoral research experience. A well-recognized research program with a compelling plan for future research and clear potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body, are essential.
