Job Description:

The Landscape Architecture department resides within the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning (SLA&P) along with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. Our faculty, with diverse expertise, generally emphasize community-engaged action research. We excel in research activities in the areas of conservation planning and design, resilient communities (emphasizing inundation and coastal concerns), urban green infrastructure, landscape performance, agriculture, food security, cultural landscapes, and design in an international context. The Department's Center for Landscape Conservation and Planning (CLCP) leads regional initiatives to safeguard Florida's ecosystems.

The Department invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Instructional Assistant Professor/Lecturer position with primary responsibilities dedicated to teaching and service. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's mission by inspiring students to explore innovative and impactful solutions to produce a more sustainable, healthy, and just world for all. We are looking for a colleague who shares our values - to foster curiosity and exploration; cultivate inclusion and respect; serve local and global communities; and the future of landscape architecture practice and innovation. The 12-month, non-tenure-accruing position has an approximate teaching load of 9-10 credit-hours of design studio and/or lecture courses per semester.

The ideal candidate has a professional degree in Landscape Architecture (MLA), some instructional and professional practice experience, and is capable of teaching broadly in our undergraduate and graduate curricula - particularly in courses focused on design communications.

The candidate should be able to work collaboratively and demonstrate a passion for working with both undergraduate and graduate students in the landscape architecture professional degree program. Other duties beyond teaching include service through active participation in regular faculty meetings, committees, design critiques, academic planning meetings, as well as special events.

Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate based on education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

A master's degree in landscape architecture from an accredited institution or other international recognized accrediting body in landscape architecture (OR terminal degree in related field with experience applicable to landscape Architecture

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Evidence of successful teaching, instructional and/or advisory experiences
  2. Experience in areas of landscape architecture design and communication such as:
  3. Hand drawing and graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite
  4. Advanced 3-D modeling and visualization
  5. GIS mapping and visualization
  • Evidence of student-centered approach to teaching and learning including undergraduate or graduate seminars, studios, and/or other instructional opportunities.
  • Experience or interest in the use of AI tools for landscape architecture design and communications.
