The Moritz College of Law is seeking an Assistant Clinical Professor to operate the Immigration Clinic. The Immigration Clinic is one of eight clinics regularly offered at the College. The Immigration Clinic has attracted tremendous student interest and contributes to meeting a substantial need for immigration assistance in the central Ohio area, including among low-income communities. In its first few years of operation, the Clinic has made a meaningful difference in the lives of a number of individuals in these local communities.
The Assistant Clinical Professor will teach up to 8 students per semester in a 4-credit course offering, with responsibility for course design, classroom instruction, and student conferences. The Assistant Clinical Professor will have autonomy over both clinical pedagogy and selection and handling of all cases; serve as counsel of record in all cases; and be the primary supervisor of the clinic students, who will be serving as student legal interns under the Ohio student practice rule.
The position is a non-tenure track, clinical-track, term position.
The College’s clinical-track faculty positions are non-tenure track, with security reasonably similar to tenure, as provided by ABA Standard 405(c) and include governance rights, the opportunity for advancement, access to a research budget, availability of summer research funds, and the potential for research leave.
The position offers a unique opportunity to practice immigration law, teach and supervise students, and engage with the immigration system from multiple perspectives, at the state’s flagship university and as part of the Moritz College of Law community.
We will consider all applicants; we particularly encourage applicants with significant immigration law experience, proven ability to communicate with non-English speakers, and a passion for teaching and mentoring. Candidates also should have a record that demonstrates potential for successful clinical teaching and related activities.

Education and Experience Requirements
Required: JD degree. Three years’ experience practicing immigration law.
Desired: Substantial experience practicing immigration law. Experience with university-level teaching. Experience in leadership or supervisory positions. Experience as a mentor to junior lawyers. Experience that demonstrates potential for successful clinical teaching.
