Associate Dean of Academic Planning

Boston College School of Social Work is seeking to fill the Associate Dean of Academic Planning, Masters in Social Work (MSW) Program opening.  Successful candidate will also be appointed as Associate or Professor of the Practice depending on qualifications and experience. Associate Dean of Academic Planning plays a critical leadership role in the academic and administrative functions of the MSW program within the Boston College School of Social Work. This position is responsible for overseeing the program's curriculum development and planning, accreditation, faculty support, and administrative operations. The Associate Dean will work closely with the Dean and other faculty members to ensure the program's continued quality, development, and excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Curriculum Development and Planning:

 

Lead the development, evaluation, and enhancement of the MSW curriculum to ensure it remains current, relevant, and aligned with accreditation standards and best practices.

 

Collaborate with faculty to create new courses or update existing ones to reflect emerging trends and research in social work.

 

Faculty Development and Support:

 

Provide leadership and support to faculty, including mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to ensure excellence in course planning and teaching.

 

Encourage and facilitate innovation in social work curriculum and teaching among faculty members.

 

Support MSW Student Recruitment:

 

Support the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management in showcasing the MSW curriculum to ensure a robust class of MSW students.

 

Accreditation and Compliance:

 

Ensure the MSW program complies with all accreditation standards and requirements.

 

Collaborate and coordinate with relevant accrediting bodies to maintain and update program accreditation.

 

Administrative Leadership:

 

Manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the MSW program, including recruitment of part-time faculty, course assignments, and course scheduling in consultation with Director, Student Services and Advising.

 

Strategic Planning:

 

Contribute to the development and implementation of the MSW program's strategic goals and initiatives.  Collaborate with the Dean on long-term planning and vision for the program.

 

Qualifications

 

An MSW or preferably a doctoral degree in social work. Current licensure as a clinical social worker, if applicable. Extensive experience in academia, including teaching and administrative roles. Knowledge of accreditation standards and processes related to social work education. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
