Position Summary::

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a Facilities Services Technician III who will perform skilled maintenance, repair and construction of HVAC (with an emphasis on Geo-Thermal systems), plumbing, and electrical systems, and building structures. This position will primarily be located on our South Campus.

Required Education/Experience::

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • at least 5 years experience in the field

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills::

  • emphasis on HVAC and Geo-Thermal systems strongly preferred
  • Degree/certificates in one of the following disciplines is preferred
    • electrical
    • plumbing
    • HVAC


Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::

Knowledge of: Applicable system maintenance, repair and installation principles and methods; Equipment operating and maintenance techniques; Construction and maintenance principles; Record-keeping principles; Safety procedures; Computers and related software applications.

Skill in: Building, repairing, and maintaining facility structures; Identifying and repairing/replacing unsafe equipment; Maintaining records and logs; Using a computer and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Duty and Responsibility::

1. Maintains HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems which may include replacing equipment; checking pipes; repairing and replacing system parts; checking sensors and switches; checking voltage lines; monitoring belts, shafts, pulleys, and motors; operating light maintenance equipment; and/or performing related duties.

2. Repairs and maintains non-mechanical/electrical structures which includes replacing parts; repairing fixtures; moving and repairing furniture; and/or performing related duties.

Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
