Job Summary

The Mathematics Department at Illinois State University is seeking applications for an open rank, tenure-track faculty position in Actuarial Science beginning August 16, 2024.

The person selected will be expected to work with the Actuarial Program in the administration and service areas, teach courses related to actuarial science, pursue research and professional involvement in actuarial science, and otherwise contribute to the life of the department. Refereed research publications, quality teaching, and professional service are required for tenure. Possession of a professional actuarial credential, or dedicated pursuit of one is expected.

This is an open-rank search, the rank may be an Assistant, Associate, or Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.

The Mathematics Department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mathematics, and a Ph.D. degree in mathematics education. Within the Bachelor’s program there are sequences in mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, actuarial science, as well as data science and computational mathematics. The Master’s program offers specializations in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science (also available online), biomathematics, and mathematics education (online). Required Qualifications

1) A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or an Actuarial-Science-related area is required.
2) State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
