The Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Technology Studies at the University of Alabama invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, with a specific research focus on Organization Theory, School Improvement, or Educational Law. The successful candidate will join 30 active research and teaching faculty, as well as a vibrant student community. Experience as an educational leader is preferred, but not required.

The Educational Leadership Program
The Educational Leadership (EL) program at the University of Alabama offers multiple graduate degrees. The intent of the Ph.D. degree is to prepare researchers, faculty, educational leaders, and policy makers in the K-12 education sector. Coupled with these are the M.A. and Ed.S. degrees that lead to leadership certification in the state of Alabama. The program is nested within a department that houses higher education, instructional technology and educational policy programs. Aspiring applicants will join a team of scholar-teachers with established publication records, ranges of leadership experience, and commitment to high-quality research, teaching and service. Producing informed, just, and highly competent professionals is a goal shared by all EL faculty. The EL program and College of Education at the University of Alabama is an early and long-standing full member of the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA).

Job Responsibilities
The Educational Leadership Program within the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Technology Studies invites applications from those with research and teaching expertise in one or more of the following leadership sub-fields: Organization Theory, School Improvement, or Educational Law. Experience as an educational leader is preferred, but not required.

The ideal candidate holds a doctorate degree in educational leadership and possesses the knowledge, methodological skills, and professional experiences needed to pursue a productive research agenda. The candidate will carry out a robust research program and actively pursue external funding in areas aligned with their research interest.

Minimum Qualifications
• Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership with one or more of the following specialties Organization Theory, School Improvement, or Educational Law.
• Evidence of a strong research agenda in one of the areas of expertise noted above.
• Familiarity with basic principles governing K-12 operations.
• Ability to pursue and procure grants that align with and support one’s research agenda and that advance programmatic goals.
• Ability to effectively mentor graduate students, chair dissertations, and serve on dissertation committees.
• For those applying at the associate professor level, a record of research, teaching and service commiserate with this rank.
• Commitment to research and teaching that support diverse populations.
