Position and Qualifications
The Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science is anchored by an actively engaged faculty and supports students interested in obtaining degrees in Mathematics (B.A., B.S., or minor) with optional minors/concentrations in Data Science. Beyond the core curriculum, special topics courses are offered in a variety of subfields of statistics, mathematics, computer science, and data science. In addition, faculty work closely with students to explore and develop research projects culminating in a capstone experience.
We seek a broadly trained individual with expertise in statistics and mathematics (experience in the areas of data science and/or computer science is preferred but not required). The applicant should possess a strong interest in teaching excellence and innovation within a liberal arts institution focused on educating women. We welcome applicants with a Ph.D. (or who are A.B.D. completed by June 30, 2024) in areas focused on statistics, mathematics, or other related disciplines.
The position carries a teaching load equivalent to six courses per year. The successful candidate must be able to teach introductory statistics (100- and 200-level courses) and upper-level courses in statistics and mathematics. They will have the opportunity to develop special topics courses and will contribute courses to the general education program. Other duties include advising students, supervising capstone projects and internships, and participating in department and university-wide governance.
