Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides academic and clinical instruction within the School of Nursing, primarily to MSN Administration and MSN-MBA Dual Degree students.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts online, classroom and clinical experiences for students.
  • Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to rank.
  • Reports directly to programmatic Department Chair.
  • Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university.
  • Teaches graduate students in online, clinical, and classroom settings.
  • Assumes responsibility for and/or participates in the planning and organization of assigned courses to which assigned.
  • Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities.
  • Plans professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offerings, workshops, professional meetings, etc.
  • Participates in program, school and university committees, and in other activities associated with professional status.
  • Maintains membership in and participates in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations.
  • Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in online, clinical, and classroom teaching.
  • Conducts research, scholarship, or practice activities appropriate to rank.
  • Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the Guidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s in Business Administration a plus.
  • Engagement in professional organization(s)
  • Experience in supervising both MSN and DNP students and their projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills related to coordination of teaching activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instructional design and implementation, including online education and clinical education.
  • In-depth knowledge of current issues/trends in nursing management/leadership concepts and awareness in higher education.
  • Demonstrated achievement in scholarly and research activities.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned Doctorate AND Master's in Nursing from a regionally accredited university. Doctoral degrees in progress will be considered.
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer license to Texas.
  • At least 5 years of current Nurse Administration/Leadership experience in positions of Director or Executive (managing/oversight of more than one unit) in hospitals staffing 750 beds or more.
  • Certified in Leadership, i.e., American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) - Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) or Certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) - Nurse Executive Certification (NE-BC) or Nurse Executive, Advanced Certification (NEA-BC)
