About us: Nicolet College is a comprehensive two-year college located on the shores of Lake Julia in Wisconsin's beautiful Northwoods region. We seek a thoughtful, innovative, enthusiastic, and student-friendly professional to join our team.

Position Summary:
This is a part-time casual position responsible for providing the necessary technical assistance to Cosmetology faculty and students to support the practical lab instructional requirements and/or assist in the classroom. The Assistant will work to support faculty in the salon lab, while assisting students as needed.

The Cosmetology program is currently configured to deliver in the fall, spring, and summer terms each school year. Responsibilities will be at the Rhinelander Campus, and the hours are flexible and will be approximately 20 hours per week.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Provide instructional support to faculty by ensuring supplies are stocked, and provides a second set of eyes/ears.
  • Provide instructional support to students by answering questions and emphasizing techniques taught by faculty.
  • Assist students with test preparation working with them to prepare for the state exam by providing guidance to students and helping to create prep work.
  • Maintain a commitment to the College mission, vision, and values. Comply with College policies, directives, and work rules. Engage positively with colleagues, engage in conflict directly and professionally, contribute to team discussions, collaborate and help colleagues, assume the best from colleagues, provide and accept constructive feedback, follow through on commitments, and support final decisions that are made.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of licensure requirements for Cosmetology in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively to create and facilitate student learning.
  • Ability to utilize technology to demonstrate and instruct students.

  • The employee must demonstrate strong attention to detail, and must be able to problem solve and perform complex tasks without error.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to normal classroom and cosmetology clinic/lab conditions, supplies (including chemicals), and equipment.
  • The employee will be constantly required to stand, talk, touch/handle/grasp (using hands and fingers), and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee will frequently be required to sit, bend, and type/write.
  • The employee must occasionally move up to 20 pounds of cosmetology classroom, clinic, and lab-related items.
  • Specific hearing abilities required by this job include hearing normal speaking-level sounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, far, and field of vision.
  • This position requires regular and punctual employee presence.
Required Qualifications:
  • Completed Cosmetology program/credential.
  • Licensed Cosmetology Practitioner.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of industry occupational experience in a salon setting.
Compensation:
The typical starting wage range is from $17.09 - $21.18 per hour, depending on qualifications. Benefits are not included with this part-time position.
