The Florida State University Department of Religion invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in religious ethics to begin in August 2024. Specialization is open.
An assistant professor is an entry-level position who teaches in a university, conducts research, and assists senior professors. Assistant professors supervise undergraduate and graduate students at the same time provide professors and department heads with feedback on the progress of their students.
Ph.D. from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization. The successful candidate will be expected to have the Ph.D. in hand by August 2024.
Preference is for candidates who focus on how religious traditions imagine issues of justice, for example in relation to issues of ethnicity in the politics of migration, race, and gender in state policy or law, issues of environmental concern, health care, or other contemporary challenges. Applicants must show evidence of an independent program of scholarly research yielding significant peer-reviewed publications, and must show promise of a strong teaching contribution in the context of a comprehensive religious studies program (B.A. through Ph.D.).
