Status:            Full Time, 40 hrs/wk    12:00 AM - 8:00 AM       




Primary Duties and Responsibilities


Provide general security to campus by means of vehicle patrol, foot patrol or fixed post assignment. Respond to alarms, calls for service and emergency situations.Detect, deter and investigate unusual activity.Provide students, employees and visitors with information and assistance.Observe and report violations of campus policies and applicable laws.Enforce college regulations including motor vehicle operation and parking regulations.Complete professional security incident reports in a timely fashion.Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors and co-workers.Provide first aid as needed including use of an AED and administering CPR.Respond to assignments as directed by dispatcher or supervisory personnel.Document and report unsafe conditions. Correct or mitigate, if possible, pending correction.Perform dispatching duties as assigned (answer incoming phone calls, monitor cameras and access control and fire reporting systems, monitor radio communications, account for department property, etc.Perform other security/safety functions as directed or required.Other duties as assigned 




High school diploma or GED (some college or military experience preferred)Two years’ experience as a security guard/officer, police officer or firefighterMust have a valid NYS driver’s licenseMust have current NYS certification.Must be able to work with minimal supervision.Satisfactory ability to use computers to email, complete reports in a records management system and complete occasional online training.Must be able to effectively respond to emergency situations with all due haste.Extensive foot patrol to include stairwells, parking lots and roadways.Must be able to move 75 pounds and lift 40 pounds

Location. Newburgh, New York. The Mount is conveniently located in the Mid-Hudson Valley, midway between New York City and New York's capital city, Albany. The Mount is in Newburgh in Orange County, New York, on a beautiful campus that overlooks the western banks of the Hudson River. It's less than a mile from the intersection of the New York State Thruway and Interstate 84, and just a few blocks from entrance to the Newburgh side of the Beacon-Newburgh Bridge. The Mount is also easily accessible by plane, with Stewart Airport just minutes from campus. The Mid-Hudson Valley offers a scope of unparalleled natural beauty in a landscape of mountains, river and forest. Hiking, biking, walking, swimming, mountain climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and our park activities offer so many ways to explore the natural environment.

Enrollment/Student Body Profile. Our student body is made up of 2,700+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. 1,800 are traditional undergraduate students.

Academic Programs. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Our collaboration programs offer you a chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College. The college also offers master's degrees in education, business, and nursing.

Faculty. Students learn from our faculty, the majority of whom hold a Ph.D. or the highest terminal degree in their field. Our Student/Faculty Ratio is 17 students:1 faculty member.
