General Description:The Director for Data Analysis, Research and Processing directly manages and leads the operations critical to successful “friendraising” and fundraising, which includes prospect research, gift processing, prospect management pipeline, membership and related business processes. This position is key to maximizing software integration capabilities with an emphasis on efficient and effective systems according to advancement best practices. Select database systems include Blackbaud software of Raiser’s Edge, Target Analytics, Research point, etc.
The successful candidate will be a systems thinker and collaborative leader who is highly skilled in the use of donor management systems and who has a deep understanding of managing comprehensive fundraising programs.

- Oversee and Supervise data entry staff to ensure comprehensive, accurate and timely processes for the fundraising/donor database workflow; including data entry, retrieval, analysis and reporting.
- Oversee, and manage a robust and effective use of our CRM (Blackbaud Products: Raiser’s Edge, Award Management, Target Analytics.
- Develops, analyzes, and provides metrics and results for data and information that underpin the department’s ability to forecast and evaluate performance, goals and strategies, and share insights with key stakeholders to create awareness and understanding that undergird effective planning. This work includes benchmarking and comparative data analysis from peer and aspirant groups and other relevant sources.
- Oversee and run prospect research for frontline fundraisers, including both individual, foundation and corporate prospects and manage prospect development pipeline meetings.
- Work closely with the frontline fundraising team to establish and implement effective processes for portfolio management, including analysis, rebalancing, documentation, and reporting.
- Using Moves Management best practices process, direct pipeline meetings and reporting for effective coordination of cultivation and solicitation action steps for major gift prospects.
- Oversee a data-based approach that ensures gift officers execute strategies that result in the meaningful engagement and successful solicitation of prospects.
- Provides support for the formulation of department and campaign strategy through data collection and analysis, creates and manages tools that demonstrate, analyze, and provoke data informed decisions, manages the annual goal setting process and implements specific strategic initiatives and projects.
- Supervise data entry staff to ensure comprehensive, accurate and timely processes for the fundraising/donor database workflow; including data entry, retrieval, analysis and reporting.
- Serve as the primary friend raising and fundraising software expert; provide training to staff as appropriate to use the database effectively.
- Conduct donor/prospect research to support fundraising efforts; employ data mining and use predictive modeling and statistical techniques to identify, classify and cultivate major gift prospects.
- Develop and maintain processes to facilitate the completion of data projects in a thorough and timely fashion; work with the database technician to implement projects.
- Collaborate with annual fund and major gift officers to build strategies for moving donors to higher giving levels.
- Develop and maintain effective and accurate reconciliation procedures with the Controller’s Office; works with Controller’s Office to ensure business processes comply with established procedures and requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive weekly, monthly and annual fundraising reports and database queries; respond to surveys (such as VSE).
- Develop and maintain a policy and procedure guide for development database operations, including documentation of all data entry; standard reports, queries, exports, etc.
- Participate in all College Foundation events.
- Deliver quality customer services to both internal and external constituents in a professional and courteous manner.
- Analyze and extract observations and insights from reports and data sets. Provide analysis and perspective that informs department plans, strategies, outcome measures, and decision making.
- Create meaningful data visualizations, using PowerPoint and other visualization software to enhance data understanding for viewers.
- Support the VP and others in advancement team with data visualization that supplies content to their presentations.
- Conducts routine benchmark and comparative data analysis to support insights for advancement team and evaluation according to best practices.
- Serve as the primary fundraising software expert; provide training to staff as appropriate to use the database effectively.
- Conduct donor/prospect research to support fundraising efforts; employ data mining and use predictive modeling and statistical techniques to identify, classify and cultivate major gift prospects.
- Use various software tools, such as Research Point, Wealth Point, online resources, etc., to analyze and present data.
- Identify, research and profile individual, foundation and corporate donors and prospects.
- Collaborate with fundraising staff to strategically select constituent groups that will be solicited, and develop strategies for increased giving for each constituent group.
- Create dashboards, data imports, exports, etc. to assist with fundraising initiatives, and establish and oversee systems for report requests.
- Develop and maintain processes to facilitate the completion of data projects in a thorough and timely fashion; work with the database technician to implement projects.
- Collaborate with annual fund and major gift officers to build strategies for moving donors to higher giving levels.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Any and all degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Three (3) years’ work experience using and managing a fundraising/donor database required.
- Knowledge of fundraising techniques required.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills required.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
- Advanced proficiency using Raiser’s Edge, and Blackbaud products or similar fundraising software required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in internet research, and experience with information resources and publications is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of wealth indicators; including income, assets, philanthropic activity, etc.
- Experience in creating infrastructure and processes for donor database.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of prospect research experience, preferred.
- Previous management experience preferred.
- Previous experience using ResearchPoint.
