About the School of Biological Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology
Undergraduate degree programs include 4 year BS and 5 year BS/MS programs in Biology and Bioinformatics.Graduate degree programs include: MS and PhD in Biology, MS and PhD in Bioinformatics, MS and PhD in Computational Science and Engineering as well as PhD in Quantitative Biosciences, Ocean Sciences and Engineering, Applied Physiology, and Dual Degree Doctorate of Physical Therapy/ Doctor of Philosophy.Research strengths include: Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Ecology, Evolution, Integrative Physiology, Microbial Dynamics and Infection, Neuroscience, Molecular and Cell Biology, Molecular Biomedical Sciences. The School is home to the two largest and most diverse undergraduate majors in the College of Sciences: Biology and Neuroscience. Job SummaryAs part of continuing growth, the School of Biological Sciences is conducting an open rank search for a tenure track faculty member in Integrative Physiology. The position is open to research programs spanning from molecular, cellular through systems-level approaches to understanding physiological function in health and disease. We are particularly interested in applicants exploring any combination of modeling, computational, and experimental approaches to address fundamental questions about physiology across scales and interactions among function, behavior, and environment. Candidates will be favored if their research enhances the school's existing strengths in basic sensorimotor neurophysiology, movement science, neurorehabilitation, biomechanics and comparative biology. Successful candidates will engage with the Applied Physiology graduate program (https://biosciences.gatech.edu/graduate/phd-applied-physiology), Biological Sciences graduate degrees, the interdisciplinary Quantitative Biosciences Graduate Program (https://qbios.gatech.edu/), and other interdisciplinary graduate programs across the college and broader Institute (https://cos.gatech.edu/graduate-programs).
ResponsibilitiesDevelop a nationally recognized and extramurally funded research program.
Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in biological sciences.
Advise and mentor biological sciences undergraduate and graduate students.
Service to the public, the university including departmental governance, and the profession.
Required QualificationsCandidates must have a Ph.D. in a biological science or related field.
In addition, candidates must demonstrate all of the following:
· Demonstrated research productivity in biological sciences.
· Academic experience in biological sciences.
· Clear evidence of effective teaching.
