The Department of Kinesiology (http://www.kin.hs.iastate.edu/) at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa is seeking to hire a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position. The scope of this position encompasses scientists with a biomedical focus in integrative human physiology related to movement, physical activity or exercise and, in particular, health. Applications are desired from individuals who utilize innovative approaches and methodology, which can be from a variety of models ranging from the cellular to whole organism, and involving animal models or human studies. The ideal candidate would perform research that is mechanistic, high impact, and addresses highly prevalent chronic diseases and their complications. This is a 9-month tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position with an anticipated start date in August, 2024. For appointment at the Assistant Professor rank, the successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program, publish in scholarly journals, integrate expertise into teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide relevant University and professional service. For appointment at the Associate Professor rank, the candidate should have demonstrated the aforementioned. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate that their research and teaching expertise will complement and extend the expertise now available within the Department of Kinesiology. The successful applicant will have strong departmental support, excellent research infrastructure, collaborative opportunities with relevant units on- and off-campus, and a supportive, collegial work environment. Candidates must have completed the requirements for a doctorate by August 2024 in an appropriate area and have evidence of a focused research program as demonstrated by publication record. Post-doctoral experience, involvement in seeking extramural funding, and college/university teaching experience are highly desirable.
