Position Summary::

The Vice President of Corporate and Continuing Education plays a pivotal role in leading, planning, and directing the Corporate and Continuing Education operations and programming at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Reporting directly to the College President, the VP is responsible for growing the college’s reputation as the preferred provider for meeting the region’s needs in workforce training and education.

Required Education/Experience::

  • Master’s degree in business, education, or a related field with a focus on workforce development.
  • At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience, including five years in senior management roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As the fourth largest continuing education provider in the state, exceptional supervisory skills are necessary to lead a division comprising approximately 50 full-time employees and over 100 part-time temporary faculty members.
  • A background in workforce development, economic development, training, and continuing education.


Preferred Education/Experience/Skills::

  • Expertise in establishing revenue-positive initiatives.
  • Experience in public higher education, especially within a community college setting, is preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::

The candidate should possess knowledge and experience in higher education administration, budgeting, training, and supervision. They must excel at building relationships and being a trusted source for workforce development. Strong marketing skills and a track record in program development and delivery are essential.

Duty and Responsibility::

Collaborate with industry leaders, community stakeholders, and governmental agencies to create, develop, market, and implement sustainable strategies that address community and industry needs. Synthesize input from various sources to anticipate and create programs that meet emerging workforce trends.

Duty and Responsibility::

Provide leadership in the development, improvement, planning, coordination, and evaluation of programs, projects, processes, policies, procedures, systems, and services. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, grant regulations, and standards. Collaborate with multiple departments to streamline activities.

Duty and Responsibility::

Serve as an integral member of the President’s cabinet and work closely with colleagues to develop cross-divisional programs that benefit students. Foster collaboration across disciplines to enhance the educational experience.

Duty and Responsibility::

Review and approve complex data, information, and reports. Make recommendations based on findings and approve reports submitted to external sources and regulatory bodies.

Manage the division’s annual budget process, including planning, prioritizing development, monitoring, allocation, oversight, and expenditure monitoring. Coordinate budget priorities to ensure they align with college goals. Ensure compliance with North Carolina Community Colleges’ service standards, policies, and procedures relevant to corporate and continuing education.

Our 102-acre North Campus is conveniently located in the North Carolina Piedmont, just off Interstate Highway 85 in Rowan County, within an hour's drive of several major cities. RCCC's 24-acre South Campus is conveniently located in Cabarrus County at the junction of I-85, NC 73, and Trinity Church Road.

At Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Continuing Education programs support the philosophy that learning is a lifelong activity. This division offers classes and short courses for professional development and community service courses of general interest at convenient times and locations.

Business and Industry Services' staff provide customized support for the community through the Small Business Center, New and Expanding Industry Training and Focused Industrial Training. The Small Business Center is designed to assist small business start-ups and to help existing businesses grow. The college's New and Expanding Industry Training office has earned national recognition for cooperative training efforts with area industries. Focused Industrial Training designs innovative educational programs for the service region's manufacturing sector.

An important function of the college is to provide educational programs on the pre-college level. Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
