Position Summary

The College of Social Science at Michigan State University invites applications for two 9-month tenure-system positions at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Dean’s Distinguished Senior Scholars Program, with an ideal start date of August 16, 2024. This program is a major College initiative aimed at promoting an inclusive scholarly environment in which exceptional senior faculty bring distinction to Michigan State University, enhance the College of Social Science’s standing, and support the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the academy. The College of Social Science is home to the following disciplines/fields Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Economics, Geography, History, Human Development and Family Studies, Human Resources and Labor Relations, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, and Urban Planning.

Minimum Requirements

Successful candidates must have a record of excellence in research and scholarship, teaching and mentoring, and service and outreach/engagement that aligns with College expectations for an Associate/Full Professor. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in these domains, particularly scholarship and mentoring, must be apparent. A Ph.D. in the social sciences is required; successful candidates will be appointed in their relevant discipline or field in the College of Social Science.
