Summary of Position: Indiana Wesleyan University seeks applications for a Mechanical Engineering faculty on the Marion, Indiana campus. This full-time permanent faculty position will join the growing Engineering department educating students pursuing a BSE (Bachelor of Science in Engineering) degree with a specialization in mechanical, computer, civil, design, or electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will combine engaging teaching with scholarly endeavors, preferably involving undergraduate research and/or industry engagement. Candidates should possess expertise in the thermal-fluid science areas of mechanical engineering and have the ability to teach courses such as fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, design of thermal systems, engineering materials, and senior design.

The Division of Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Sciences offers studies in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics and serves approximately 120 students in these academic areas.

Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning. Rank and competitive salary based on qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching general engineering and discipline-specific engineering courses at all undergraduate levels
  • Student mentoring
  • Curriculum and laboratory course development and assessment in support of ABET accreditation
  • Senior project supervision
  • Community and/or industry engagement, and university service
  • Scholarship and participation in professional organizations are expected and supported
  • Teaching load is 12 credits per semester

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Candidates must have, or be pursuing, a doctorate in engineering, preferably in the field of mechanical engineering.

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, and students
  • Prior undergraduate teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage undergraduate research preferred
