Department Information

In addition to leading the Institutional Research & Planning (IRP) unit of Georgia Tech, this key position will serve as the leader of the newly-formed Business Intelligence and Organizational Effectiveness Council as a part of their duties, coordinating with a handful of key leaders across the Institute to enhance the use of business intelligence and data analytics into the Institute's strategic operations and planning.That group will review key data, generated in large part by IRP resources, to review Institute and environmental trends and priorities and coordinating with GT leadership to ensure that the appropriate data is being compiled and presented to assist with executive decision-making.

Job Summary

Work in direct support of executive leadership to identify and use institutional data and related information to produce analysis, modeling, and recommendations to monitor, evaluate, and improve institutional performance and operations. Responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of key institutional effectiveness functions to improve performance and operations, including strategic planning, accreditation, research, and supporting institute initiatives. This position will conduct the systemic analysis of data to identify challenges, support program reviews, planning, budgeting, decision-making, and preparation of standard reports in accordance with external agencies, local, state, and federal reporting requirements. Responsible for establishing group/departmental/division goals, determining the resources needed to meet those goals, assessing group/departmental/division performance feedback, and making pay decisions.

This position reports to the Assc VP-Finance & Planning with dotted-line reporting to the SVP-Strat Init Chief of Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Serve as a subject matter expert on Institute data including definitions, extraction, analysis and communication; coordinate and collaborate with data stewards, OIT data leadership and Office of the President units to identify the appropriate data to be used for executive analysis and broader communication. This will include oversight of the production of dashboards, in coordination with the data analyst and business intelligence community at the Institute. This will also include producing and maintaining periodic reports on institutional priorities such as progress toward the Institute's strategic plan goals

Job Duty 2 -
Oversee and assume primary responsibility for submission of Institute data for external reporting including but not limited to IPEDS, University System of Georgia (USG), Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE), rankings publications, and other federal reporting. Serve as Georgia Tech's IPEDS keyholder

Job Duty 3 -
Actively participate in and supervise the production of institutional analyses and both internal and external reporting in areas including students, faculty, research, finance, academic program review, accreditation, benchmarking, and others. This includes but is not limited to descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, prescriptive analytics and effectiveness studies

Job Duty 4 -
Coordinate directly with USG and Institute data stewards to ensure the accuracy and integrity of Georgia Tech data through troubleshooting, data validation, and data cleaning efforts. Maintain active participation in Institute Data Governance Committee as designated or assigned

Job Duty 5 -
Extract, manipulate and analyze data trends and patterns using database query tools, statistical/analytical software and data tools to produce detailed data reports that may include complex analysis of strategic initiatives and operational function, modeling of possible outcomes, and actionable recommendations at the request of the President and other GT leaders. Design, develop, analyze, and test predictive models of institutional data to identify opportunities for improvement

Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate with Legal Affairs, data stewards and other units to ensure the IRP unit responds appropriately to Open Records requests that involve data extraction and summaries

Job Duty 7 -
Work closely with leadership to lead and oversee budget development and monitoring and daily fiscal and human resource operations of the IRP unit, and to direct the development of tools for institutional research staff to use for data mining for decision support

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree in engineering, business, math/statistics, science, liberal arts, education or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Five years of supervisory experience

Required Experience
Three or more years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Prefer experience in higher education institutional research.

Proposed Salary

$124,153.00 - $168,847.00. Salary will be commensurate to experience and education.

SKILLS
o Strong written and verbal communications skills are required as well as the ability to multi-task and
prioritize
o Must be able to turn data into actionable information including thorough documentation,
explanations, and recommendations
o Must be deadline and detail-oriented. Knowledge of FERPA and other laws relevant to personal
data is required
