Job Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a full-time open-rank tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE). We seek persons with expertise in various ISE methods and artificial intelligence (AI) for modeling, analyzing, or optimizing complex systems. Areas of methodological emphasis/focus include (but are not limited to) stochastic modeling, data analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, operations research, and optimization. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the interplay between ISE methods and AI applications in specific domain(s), including (but not limited to): financial systems and financial technology (FinTech); supply chains and logistics; cybersecurity and privacy; fairness, equity and ethics in AI algorithms; interpretability/ explainability of AI; social networks and social science (in general); sustainable AI systems; and energy and/or transportation systems.

Successful candidates will develop a high-quality publication record at UF, supervise Ph.D. students, and teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in ISE. For the associate or full professor role, it is essential for the candidate to have a clear agenda for substantially adding to current department funded research and a passion for mentoring and leading early-career faculty to success. Preference will be given to applicants with established research directions and portfolios across ranks. Outstanding candidates will be considered for any available endowed appointments (faculty fellowships) at the time of offer.

UF ISE offers BS, ME, MS, and Ph.D. degrees. We have approximately 500 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. The Department hosts research in various application areas including energy systems, healthcare systems, supply chain systems and transportation systems. We also currently host methodological research in data analytics, human systems engineering, optimization, simulation, and stochastic analysis. The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is currently implementing a major expansion of faculty and state-of-the-art research and education facilities. Expected Salary:

Salary to commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

PhD degree in ISE, operations research, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

Possess a strong academic record for research and teaching excellence as well as a strong service record.
