Assistant Professor of Mathematics – Tenure TrackSpartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. The primary responsibilities will be teaching and service to the college. The instructional load for this position could include courses such as Basic Algebra, College Algebra, Introductory Statistics, and perhaps other mathematics subjects. The standard teaching load for this position is eight courses per academic year: four courses in the fall semester and four courses in the spring semester. Spartanburg Methodist College has a long history of providing excellent undergraduate education for students who are traditionally underserved. The institution seeks qualified candidates who possess the skills and abilities to work with students who have academic and life challenges. The successful candidate will have a clearly articulated teaching philosophy; experience with first-generation, non-traditional, and/or traditionally underserved student populations; and a record of teaching excellence. Spartanburg Methodist College particularly welcomes applications from candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. Qualifications for this position include:
  • A master’s in mathematics or a master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in mathematics, a Ph.D. in mathematics is preferred.
  • 2 years of teaching experience and two years of teaching at the college level is preferred.
