Department Information
Grants and Contracts Accounting Compliance Department serves to coordinate and support Georgia Tech's External Sponsored Projects. The Department administers periodic testing of transactions in accordance with federal requirements, policies and procedures, and areas of risk within the institute. Responds to sponsor program reviews and site visits throughout the calendar year. Audit support is provided to various departments within GA Tech to assist with audits from sponsors that are initiated by accounting firms.
Job SummaryProvide compliance testing and reporting related to sponsored project administration, based on thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and Institute requirements. Develop, document, and communicate procedures to Institute constituents. Provide specialized expertise in post-award reporting, compliance, audit, and Institute accounting systems. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Campus administrative officers and financial managers, faculty/researchers, external auditors, Grants and Contracts Accounting Senior Director, Directors, Associate Directors and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: Campus administrative officers and financial managers, Grants and Contracts Accounting staff, Office of Sponsored Programs staff. ResponsibilitiesJob Duty 1 -
Perform close-out control review associated with individual sponsored projects.
Job Duty 2 -
Assist/lead periodic internal reviews of transactions posted to sponsored projects.
Job Duty 3 -
Assist/lead periodic internal reviews of compliance with Federal award terms and conditions relating to billing and financial reporting.
Job Duty 4 -
Prepare requested audit documentation.
Job Duty 5 -
Perform data validation through query tool.
Job Duty 6 -
Serve as a liaison in helpdesk email inquiries.
Job Duty 7 -
Provide senior management with recommendations on effectiveness of existing processes and policy formulation and education.
Job Duty 8 -
Assist/lead training classes offered by Grants and Contracts Accounting
Job Duty 9 -
Assist in system improvements, design, testing, implementation, and training.
Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Four to five years of job related experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certified Research Administrator (CRA); Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Audit experience is preferred
Salary Range: $53,687 - $74,000
Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesSKILLS
This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Federal award administration within a university research environment. Additionally, working knowledge of computerized cost accounting/rate information systems management, operation and use is required, as is Federal regulations governing administration of research grants and contracts and related cost accounting and audit requirements. Must be familiar with specialized financial/accounting related software.
This job requires experience with Microsoft Office; requires attention to detail, ability to effectively multi-task, ability to work with all levels of management and staff; excellent oral and written communication skills and effective time management skills.
