The Department of Psychology at Chapman University invites applications for TWO non-tenure track full-time Instructional Assistant Professor of Psychology positions, beginning Fall 2024.   

 

Preferred areas of expertise are in the areas of Cognitive Psychology, Clinical/Abnormal Psychology, and/or Lifespan Development, although those with other areas of expertise are encouraged to apply. Applicants with a teaching focus on the study of minority or marginalized populations within core subfields of psychology are strongly encouraged to apply.  The Department of Psychology is in the process of developing a new Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree (in addition to our long-standing B.A. degree), and applicants who could add their specialty to this degree are also encouraged to apply. We are interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in teaching, mentoring, and/or university/professional service.

Current areas of expertise in the Psychology Department include health psychology, neuroscience, physiological psychology, computational science, affect science, social psychology, human sexuality, the study of gender and other identities, abnormal and clinical psychology, human development and aging, discrimination and bias, environmental psychology, and positive psychology.  We welcome faculty whose area of expertise adds to or complements current areas of strength in our faculty.

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will teach core courses in the major related to their expertise in psychology. The candidate will engage in department and university service (e.g., advising students, serving on department or university committees).

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Psychology or related field is required.  Experience teaching at the university level is required.  Evidence of past or potential excellence in teaching psychology courses is preferred.  Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are preferred.
