The Stroke Program Coordinator is a RN with clinical expertise in ICU and/or acute stroke care management. In this role you will perform duties directly contributing to the development of new innovation health care techniques, practices, and approaches by supporting and/or peforming acute stroke patient care services in clinical research trials.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license as a Nurse in the State of Maryland

RN License Maryland State Board of Nursing

Basic Life Support certified

Advanced cardiac life support certification

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

Three to five years as a Registered Nurse .

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Clinical neuroscientific theory and principles as they relate to the clinical research programs must be understood and utilized. Comprehensive knowledge as relates to nursing duties or knowledge to coordinate a clinical research project and health care delivery.

Knowledge of procedures and their application in neurological research setting to perform necessary analytical duties and supervise patient care. Ability to assess neurologic functions and determine side effects or adverse reactions during drug trials and other research projects. Knowledge of frequently used and special drugs including normal dosage, administration, action and adverse reactions.

Knowledge of principles and medical and statistical validity in clinical research. Ability to counsel and provide information to patients, families, and others regarding the neurological research program and related nationwide-based programs.
