ERP Systems Content Developer

MR12 – Exempt; Starting salary dependent on the candidate’s qualifications and experience

Summary: This position reports to the Director of the Facilities Services Department Communications & Information Services Unit and plays a pivotal role in designing and creating engaging instructional materials aimed at effectively teaching users how to navigate and utilize our new ERP systems. The Instructional ERP Systems Content Developer will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and multimedia specialists to produce high-quality content that empowers users to confidently interact and successfully use new technologies.

This position is critical in developing comprehensive and user-friendly instructional content designed to enhance user knowledge and satisfaction thereby plays a crucial role in driving successful system adoption and utilization.



Qualifications

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and curate comprehensive user-friendly instructional content, including user guides, tutorials, how-to videos, presentations, and interactive demos, and FAQs to facilitate software understanding and effective system adoption. 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and with software developers to gain in-depth insights into software functionalities and features and to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise instructions suitable for various user levels.
  • Create step-by-step guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting resources that address user queries and challenges.
  • Apply instructional design principles and best practices to create structured and effective learning experiences, catering to various user skill levels and learning preferences and to create engaging and user-friendly learning experiences.
  • Organize content in a logical sequence to guide users through progressive software usage from basic to advanced functionalities by structuring content to ensure progressive learning, from basic to advanced system usage, catering to diverse learning styles and preferences.
  • Incorporate interactive elements, simulations, and assessments to enhance user comprehension and retention.
  • Work closely with multimedia specialists to incorporate multimedia elements, such as graphics, animations, and videos, into instructional materials to enhance visual appeal and understanding.
  • Ensure multimedia components align with the overall instructional design and effectively convey key concepts and contribute to a positive learning experience.
  • Stay current with software updates and changes to maintain accurate and up-to-date instructional materials. Regularly update and revise instructional content to reflect system updates, enhancements, and user feedback.
  • Gather and analyze user feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance content effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, SMEs, and user experience designers, to gather insights and maintain accurate and up-to-date content.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and testing of instructional content to ensure accuracy, completeness, and usability.
  • Identify and address any gaps, inconsistencies, or errors in the content and rectify them promptly.
  • Perform testing and validation of content to ensure it aligns with software behavior and user expectations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and content authoring tools.
  • Experience with multimedia tools and the ability to integrate visual and interactive elements effectively.
  • Experience with multimedia integration and familiarity with multimedia authoring tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for translating technical jargon into easily understandable language.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality and accurate instructional materials.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
  • Knowledge of user experience (UX) principles and the ability to create content that promotes a positive user experience.
  • Experience in the use of Adobe Captivate or similar eLearning content creation software.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in developing instructional content for software systems with a strong portfolio showcasing various content types preferably in a technology-driven industry.
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license
