Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Medical Administration, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • 2-5 years of large scale professional safety experience.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prefer five (5) years of experience in safety leadership.
  • Prefer three (3) years of safety program management.
  • Prefer three (3) years of workplace risk assessment compliance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Industry Knowledge:
  • An understanding of relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the industry in which the organization operates is essential.

  • Leadership and Communication Skills:
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are crucial for effectively managing safety programs and collaborating with various stakeholders.

  • Analytical Skills:
  • The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions is important for improving safety outcomes.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities:
  • Safety Program Managers need to be adept at identifying potential hazards and developing effective solutions to mitigate risks.

  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety regulations relevant to the organization's industry is important to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at: $70,000 - $76,000.

    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
