Position: Senior Associate for Academic Programs and Labor Market Research

 

 

 

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is seeking a professional with expertise in economic and labor market-related research to serve as Senior Associate for Academic Programs and Labor Market Research. The ideal candidate will have experience working either in a higher education focused organization (such as an institution of higher education, system office, or state agency) or in an organization focused on economics research that includes in its portfolio work on education (postsecondary), economics, and labor market alignment. The ideal candidate will be a conversant user of state and federal databases relevant to higher education academic program performance. They will be able to:

 

  • conduct independent research into factors affecting the economic aspects of higher education academic programs; perform analyses on the extent of regional and state demand for graduates of higher education degree programs by discipline and degree level; research, analyze, and evaluate the return on investment of higher education degree programs in comparison with cost and indebtedness.

The Senior Associate will participate as a member of a team responsible for evaluating proposals for academic programs from public institutions and will also serve as a point of contact with the Virginia Office of Education Economics. As a professional within the Academic Affairs division of SCHEV, they will be called on to support select agency initiatives and will serve as a resource to the Associate Director and Director of Academic Affairs. S/he must have the temperament and ability to work collaboratively with staff in Academic Affairs and other units of SCHEV, and with representatives at institutions of higher education. The incumbent of this position will report to the Associate Director of Academic Affairs.
