Part-Time Instruction for the Medical Laboratory Technology Program.
The Adjunct Instructor for the Medical Laboratory Program is a position that requires a highly trained and skilled MLS. This position is in direct support of the college’s mission and strategic plan. The Adjunct Instructor duties support instruction for classroom and laboratory settings. The teaching load may vary depending on the semester and include duties such as:1. Provide didactic instruction over a variety of modalities.2. Provide remediation to individual student in the class and laboratory room in support of program curriculum. 3. Assist another faculty in the program.
4. Develop and prepare learning assessments and laboratory competencies. 5. Grade assessments, competencies and lab exercises. 6. Evaluate student’s cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains in conjunction with Program Coordinator.7. Ensure course content meets accreditation and college guidelines. 8. Perform course assessment and provide feedback to Program Coordinator 9. Other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator.Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification RequirementsRequires Bachelor of Science degree, master’s preferred.Requires MLS (ASCP) certification. A minimum of three years of hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred. Experience in most (all) areas of lab a plus. Teaching experience at post-secondary level a plus.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required
Analytical skills. Applicant must be able to prepare laboratory specimens to mimic real-life patient samples, perform more than one task at a time and synthesize data and come to reasonable conclusions.
Detail oriented. Applicant must follow accreditation and college guidelines when preparing didactic lectures.
Motor coordination. Applicant must have good dexterity, move freely throughout the classroom and lab while instructing students.
Visual Acuity: applicant must be able to read calibration lines on pipettes, distinguish between subtle changes in density or color reactions. Identify stained and unstained cellular components. Use a binocular microscope.
Interpersonal skills. Applicant must be supportive and nurturing in their interactions with students.
Communication: Applicant must be able to communicate with students while exhibiting self-control and positive attitude.
Physical stamina. Applicant must be able to stand long periods while collecting instructing in the classroom and laboratory
