Job Summary:

Join the Facilities Management Department on the University of Colorado Denver Campus as a PMT-II Facilities Maintenance Technician Lead (Housing). This is a full-time state classified position. The PMT-II Facilities Maintenance Technician Lead (Housing) position: On-call after hours (which includes weekends and holidays to support 24 hours a day, 7 days- a-week operation. Maintain all facilities and operating systems in a safe and efficient working order. This includes regular maintenance on HVAC, electrical, mechanical, utility systems, interior finishes, and appliances and coordinate work with journey level technicians and contractors. You will record issues and make work reports via email, log your work in CMMS and monitor building systems in BAS and perform various other duties and tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • As the team lead, coordinates the team's tasks, manages procurement, reviews WO entries, and assists team members as needed.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance as assigned.
  • Maintain facility safety with snow removal, lighting, and wayfinding signage.
  • Will maintain the inside and outside of student rooms and common areas (including Laundry room, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, kitchens, HVAC, etc.)
  • Effective Communication with vendors and contractors
  • Maintain reports and inventory via electronic records and database.
  • Operate university vehicles to transport necessary tools/equipment to work sites.
  • Respond to alarms/emergencies and make resolution. Set priorities based on urgency.
  • Make necessary changes in BAS to various building systems operating parameters.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve team performance.
  • Work closely with the supervisor to implement leadership directives.
  • Participate in after-hours call-back rotation.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Denver, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of progressively responsible residential maintenance experience, including minor repairs to HVAC, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems and indoor finishes.
  • Substitution: Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting, steamfitting, or heating, ventilation and air conditioning apprenticeship program, or higher level, non-correspondence course work in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Experience fixing and maintaining equipment and machinery
  • Experience in heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Experience performing basic data entry into a computer
  • Experience keeping activity logs

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing to work first shift 7:30am to 4:00pm weekdays and subject to on call 24/7. Work overtime when needed to support the operation.

NOTE: This position has been designated as essential personnel and will be required to respond to emergencies as needed. Position may also be required to stay late, come in early, or cover shifts as needed.     Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $4,669 - $5,416 per month.

    This position may be eligible for a one-time non-base building sign-on bonus up to $2,000. Details of this recruitment incentive program will be provided during the interview process. Current University of Colorado employees are not eligible for this incentive.

    The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
