Summary of Position: The Director of Brand & Marketing Operations performs a vital role in the brand, marketing, and communications team at IWU. This role will have oversight of the University’s various business units, including IWU-Marion, IWU-N&G, and Wesley Seminary. This role will ensure the university brand is represented with a clear, consistent, and effective messaging and design, which ultimately drives IWU enrollment, fund-raising, and student and alumni engagements. They will also serve as an intermediary between clients and the creative and marketing technology departments, providing guidance that ensures client needs are met and brand standards are upheld. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional creative and technology team members, university constituents, and external agencies and vendors in order to achieve brand, marketing, and communications objectives.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the Brand and Marketing Operations team to ensure high-quality deliverables while maintaining brand standards
  • Delegates to team members; supervise and evaluate their performance; and handle other administrative and personnel functions
  • Serves as the primary interface with academic and operational units, internal constituents, and external vendors and agencies for developing and updating content related to campaigns, programs, and other marketing materials
  • Creates and nurtures relationships with internal clients by addressing their brand, marketing, and communications needs and concerns, assessing project and resource requirements, and managing expectations of clients when scoping and executing deliverables
  • Identify brand opportunities, perform competitive analysis, co-develop brand and marketing strategies, including Go-To-Market (GTM) plans, and brand creation, and maintain brand integrity through policing marketing and outreach vehicles associated with the university
  • Monitor market trends, coordinate an understanding of consumers, and ensure agencies are hitting KPIs
  • Creates project estimates, plans, and timelines that consider what each deliverable requires and what resources may be needed; discussing impact against other priorities in the queue with team leads
  • Manages process and the tracking of all jobs using project management software and produces reports/updates as needed on the status
  • Participates in team-based brand, marketing, and communications planning to align strategies and deadlines across various concurrent projects and initiatives as needed
  • Represents Marketing on Program Launch initiatives and in other meetings related to new programs, new partnerships, and other initiatives where marketing involvement is required
  • Provides oversight in the selection of and relationships with vendors
  • Oversees the production and ordering of all print projects”
  • Oversees the ordering and placement of promotional items
  • Create, produce, manage/forecast and reorder promotional inventory as needed
  • Oversees the coordination of promotional materials, literature, and displays to university field team members attending or representing IWU at conferences and meetings
  • When needed, must attend various university functions outside of normal hours of operation
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business, or related field required

Experience

  • Five or more (5+) years of brand and marketing operations experience
  • Experience with budget management
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, working with creative teams
  • Experience with project management software (i.e., Wrike)
  • Five or more (5+) years of supervisory experience required
  • Higher education experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

Required Skills

  • Ability to work consistently with detailed assignments
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and projects
  • Good computer skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and database usage
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments independently, with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles preferred
  • Familiarity with industry best-in-class creative software/tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Superior communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and under time constraints.
