Job Summary:
The Department of Ophthalmology has an open rank Post-Award Open Rank (Intermediate-Principal) Specialist position available. The Post-Award specialist will support Clinical and Research finance operations in Ophthalmology. This individual will act as a resource for this Department and will be expected to work independently as well as collaboratively with the Ophthalmology Faculty, Departmental financial leadership, and staff.

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.

- Coordinate the grant, contract, and institutionally sponsored project activity.
- Work with Principal Investigator to re-budget if sponsor notice of award is less than initially requested.
- Prepare and monitor selected central budgets (ICR, auxiliary, AEF, enrichment, and clinical contracts, with other areas as needed), and preparing material, metrics, financial models, and presentations for department research portfolio and new and existing business innovation and collaboration opportunities.
- Reconcile direct and indirect expenses for projects to ensure all appropriate expenses have been posted to project speed type before the close out process.

- One (1) year of professional level experience with sponsored project administration.
Senior Level:

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CU InfoEd proposal development system or similar system-to-system grants submission software.
- Experience with pre-and post-award contracts and grant administrations in an academic setting. Experience with any variety of additional computer programs relevant to finance, budgeting, patient accounting, space inventory, or other business areas (PeopleSoft, Cognos, A2E, HCM, WebSpace, or other).
- Experience with forensic accounting and detailed analysis of financial reporting to identify errors, issues, or other discrepancies.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in coordination, development, and administration of grants and contracts.
- Experience with the research grant application and funded-grant processes, which includes experience with mechanisms and requirements of various research grant application processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Extensive experience with Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
